From reading reports my property was part of the fire now called the holiday park fire I think. So that’s two houseS , two RV’s, shop, and probably all my cars except my Civic. Guess I won’t need to fix the massive oil leak on my 245. My Barracuda, Valiant, and Suburban will be casualties as well. I have owned those cars for almost sixty years combined. I am happy to get all the living beings out safe and sound.

That is just the fetid icing on the proverbial cake of feces that has been this year. I’m so thankful that you were able to get your family out safely. I can’t imagine what losing everything to a fire must be like. I’ll be praying for you and your family. You saved what really matters and that is something to be thankful for. Stuff can be replaced but family cannot.

Welcome to the club! My house burned to the ground the weekend after I graduated from high school. They never figured out why it caught fire, but at least we weren’t home when it started.

And neither were you.

That’s what’s really important. Know that you’ll bounce back. Hopefully you have digital versions of your important photos and they’re backed up somewhere. If the drives burned , data recovery can be charged to your insurance.

For the next five years or so , you’re going to go looking for something and only realize after searching for an hour that it was “pre-fire.” I even called my mom a few times to ask if she knew where to find something , only to be reminded that I lost it in the fire.

Just remember that you saved the really important things. The rest is just stuff.

So sorry to hear man. Glad you’re OK. As someone who works in an insurance-adjacent profession, get a public adjuster to help you sort this mess out. They charge a lot but unless your claim is already going out at policy maximum and it’s not in dispute , they’re worth every cent.

No words will really help you, but let me offer a glimmer. The Grizzly Creek fire is just winding down in glenwood springs Colorado. There is a park called Hanging Lake up one of the side canyons with beautiful water in a travertine marble bottomed basin. It was in the middle of the major burn zone, but it was completely spared. Good luck.
